TORX® ttap® Advantages

TORX® ttap® screw drive system enables faster, easier and one-hand operations
Did you know that...
The copies and look-alike TORX fasteners and drivers, commonly called six-lobe, hexlobe, star or TX, are not produced under the same quality control system as the original TORX®.

Both authentic TORX® and TORX® ttap® can only be produced in cooperation with Acument Global Technology, who provide the best guarantee for a quality recess.

Be aware of the unauthentic copies in the market, and make sure you are always using the authentic TORX® and TORX® ttap®. Copied products may be made of inferior material and cause substandard engagement, reaming and damaging of the recess and premature tool wear.

Benefits of using TORX® and TORX® ttap® licensed drive systems..
No wobbling or cam-out
  • The driver does not wobble or cam-out of the recess.
  • No need to push and no need to end load on the driver.
Stick fit:
  • The driver sticks-fit in the recess.
  • The ttap® stick-fit enables one handed operations without a magnetic holder, and thus no steel splinters will clog bit.
One handed operation:
  • The TORX®ttap® drive system gives you a stable and easy one-handed drive.
  • It is possible because it is stable, you don´t need one hand on the screw and the other on the driver.
No strip-out of collated screws
  • The TORX®ttap® drive system works excellently on collated screws, since it is almost impossible for the screws to strip-out. The ttap® stability button keeps the fastener straight through operation, allowing easier and faster operations.
TORX® ttap® is compatible with TORX®
  • TORX® ttap® screws are compatible with TORX® bits, however, to benefit from the advantages of the patented and improved ttap® pilot feature, you have to use an authentic TORX® ttap® bit.

TORX® ttap® Compared to other drive systems

ttap® is an improved and patented feature of the original TORX® Drive System, making screw driving faster, easier and more stable.

Illustrations comparing TORX® ttap® to other commonly used screw drive systems in the market:
TORX® ttap® vs TORX® / six-lobe / star / TX
1. TORX® and TORX copies create wobbling due to the small angle between the top on one side and the bottom on the opposite side.

2. TORX® ttap® eliminates wobbling and enables stable operations through the increased angle between the top on one side and the bottom on the opposite side.
TORX® ttap® vs Phillips / Pozidriv®
1. Phillips / Pozidriv® drive system was originally designed to create cam-out. The conical side walls deflect the torque upwards, and makes it necessary to end load and push the driver.

2. TORX® ttap® eliminates cam-out and enables easier operations because there is no need to end-load or apply pressure to the driver. The drive angle is perpendicular to the axis of the fastener.
TORX® ttap® vs Hex systems
1. Line Contact
Hex systems  cause inefficient torque transfer and rapid tool wear.

2. Broad engagement surfaces
TORX® ttap® provides greater torque transfer and  extended tool life
TORX® ttap® vs TORXALIGN® / other stick-fit alternatives
Some have produced conical drive bits in order to get stick-fit. Conical bits have many disadvantages, such as instability and low torque. The illustration to the left, explains a few more of the problems with conical bits.

TORX® ttap® has stick-fit on the ttap® pilot feature, independent of the driving lobes, which allows for a greater engagement surface, with higher torque, and without weakening the screw head.

Why you should use authentic TORX® and TORX® ttap®

Authentic TORX® ttap® is the best guarantee for a quality recess.
TORX® currently has about six hundred licensed manufactures in cooperation with Acument Global Technology. Ttapdrive AS owns the patented ttap® pilot feature on the drive system and cooperates with Acument Global Technology under a Master License Agreement.

Product quality

All authentic TORX® and TORX® ttap® Fasteners and Drive Tools are manufactured to very critical, proprietary tolerances, with gaging that is available only to licensed manufacturers. The licensing network ensures that each authentic fastener and driver is made with proprietary tooling that has undergone precise dimensional inspection and is engineered to function properly together.

Quality audits

Authentic TORX® ttap® must be produced in cooperation with Acument Global Technology, who provides the best guarantee for a quality drive system. Due to worldwide trademark laws, Acument Global technology is required to provide for a means of controlling the quality of our trade-marked and patented products made by licensees. This is done by auditing samples of our licensed products.
